It’s All About the Green.
You would of course think we’re talking about all those financial applications, but with Earth Day fast approaching and a couple of exciting new web 2.0 applications on our screens, we have to share some ways to “green” your life and help out the environment.
Terrapass is one of our favorites, making it possible to figure out what your carbon footprint is, and in a guilt-reducing twist, lets you offset it with purchasable (and public) offsets. Increasingly popular in urban metros, Terrapass sells gifts of carbon offsets and gives decals for extra smugness.
For the righteous individual or the environmentally conscious business, it’s an easy way to fight global warming with a click of the mouse. Need more detail on your footprint? Want to find green products and services in your area? Here to help is Low Impact Living, a calculator-cum-blog with plenty of advice for the morally aware.

Of course one of the best ways to offset carbon and stall global warming is to reuse and recycle. A service such as Gigoit is an excellent resource to recycle those used items and give them good home. Resembling eBay without the money, Gigoit’s users are rated and feedbacked, so you can trust your freebie more than ever. Similar but less remarkable applications include Second Rotation and the electronics freeplace BuyMyTronix, which redistribute goods to interested parties. If you live in Australia, you may want to use Scoodi, the marketplace where you tag and sell used items. Landfills all across the outback will sigh in relief for your efforts to reuse and recycle.
