Lunch Time

May 16th, 2008
Let’s face it. No matter how you look at it, lunch isn’t that far away and you’ll be back to the same decision as the day before, wondering why you’re looking at Styrofoam. You see where this is heading, yes?

Yup, you got it. Listio recommends ways for you to find better food.
For serious foodies, Chowhound, is the source for local delectables, with a community of passionate food lovers and restauranteers (some restaurateurs too). A long building community, Chowhound has remade itself to provide even more than the forums that made it famous; it now has blogging, newsletters, videos, and a customizable personal page to keep track of your favorite recipes, articles, and restaurants. Also recommended is the directory Yelp, the services directory for the United States that covers everything from beauty to zoos with user rated reviews and Google map mashups. Restaurants, eateries, and markets are easy to find with Yelp, and just like Chowhound, you can sign in to keep track of your favorites.

Where Yelp and Chowhound are the powerhouses of the food hunt, there are some specialized webservices that can also change your eating habits. Webservices such as Lunchn get everyone on board with groups, personal listings, and voting. It may not get rid of that “I don’t know… what do you feel like eating?” conversation, but at least it keeps it online. For students, Campusfood offers a community and rating platform for those who are dining in and on a budget. Most importantly for the students with odd hours, it has updated business hours and delivery information. Sign in to personalize, use Campus Cash, and feed your head. Enough said - go eat!
