It’s Not All About The Gas

June 23rd, 2008

So you’re ready for a trip, but let’s say you didn’t see some of our travel posts, and you go to your preferred carrier instead, counting all those frequent traveler miles as you do. You book, and get something like the pic above. Booking Burbank to San Jose… no stops… enter dates and… say what? $827 for a flight inside the state?

Now to be fair, that’s not a bad price since you’re going through Denver, although how they don’t stop is beyond me. What’s really in the pic is an search function gone horribly wrong, but you get the idea. Airlines have trying to get the most out of us for ages, and nothing brings this out faster than the extreme cases. Well now there’s some help.

Yapta ListingYapta! is a travel tool to help track down the best fare for your flight, but don’t pay for it yet. Yapta’s special feature is a tracking and alert system that does the hunting for you, only alerting when the fare drops. Yet Yapta doesn’t stop there. After you’ve purchased your ticket, Yapta continues to track, looking for possible refunds and overcharges. Whether tools such as Yapta will encourage honesty among airlines is very much in question, but at least in the short term you aren’t being overcharged with this Listio search: travel+track

New to Listio? Our tag cloud search offers an easy way to narrow your hunt for the perfect web application or service. No more second guessing of search terms. Just click on one tag, then as many more as you'd like to narrow your search results. It's easy and ensures you get to the listing you want. Finding web 2.0 was never so easy.
