MagCloud: Publishing Magazines Online

June 25th, 2008

MagCloud ListingHP Labs has been working overtime to bring some innovation to publishing, and they seem to have found another area to mine in the DIY and self-publish field.

MagCloud is a tool for publishing magazines on demand, which enables small presses and publishing hopefuls an opportunity to realize what could have been an expensive dream; their own magazine.

The process is simple, just upload a PDF and MagCloud takes care of the printing, mailing, subscription management, and more. Most significantly, and unlike other self publish options, MagCloud offers a subscription (measurable!) model by offering titles on their site.

People looking for specialized content, or even a more independent voice can purchase directly from MagCloud. As someone who recently went through a seventy plus page fashion magazine to find three pages of articles, I can tell you there is strong appeal to he thought of small press, where twenty pages means twenty pages of content.
