Buzzword: Streamlined Word Processing With Flash

With the design sensibility of Adobe and a streamlined function bar, Buzzword is a visually attractive word processor with the requisite number of features to create, edit, and save documents online.
Documents can be easily created, duplicated, and deleted from a dashboard where users can also manage their files. Sort by author, size, role, or date changed, and change shared settings all through the dashboard. Once a file has been created the text editing options common to word processors appear in a gray feature bar that expands as the user rolls over it to expose new options. With pull down menus Buzzword has options to annotate text with headers, footers, line and page breaks, and the ability to insert tables and images.
The strength of the application is in its presentation and user interface - a clean, uncomplicated feel is conducive to productivity - and working on Buzzword is a pleasure. Drop down menus are animated so the rollover quickly shows what features are available, and tabs such as the bullet lists and image tab slide out quickly to reveal their options. Enlarging the view is also a pleasure; a slider bar at the bottom of the screen slides out once rolled over, and allows users to get the exact magnification they like.
The weakness of Buzzword is that the features have been as streamlined as the application itself, and though there are enough features to create an engaging document, some elements such as frames, rulers, and tags are not present. Even with the streamlined feature set, however, the Flash-based application offers a dynamic and attactive word processor.
