Word Processing Online With Web 2.0
With software costs rising, web 2.0 users have been increasingly turning to applications online to manage their word processing needs. What you really need, say most users, is a way to edit on the go, format the text, and output to a printer or digital format. The applications we chose this week do this and more; offering full text editors and web 2.0 experience.
For this week’s look at word processors we found four applications that fulfilled all of the above requirements and added elements of word processing we have come to expect from software platforms. Aligning text, changing colors, adding tables, sharing and collaborating are all features that can be found in the applications BuzzWord, Writer, Zoho Writer, and SpringNote.
Some are able to perform advanced functions including publishing to blogs or spell checking, and some are only for editing and creation, but all of the applications have the benefit of mobility. For users on the go, or users that have been having difficulties with their office suites, online productivity applications such as web 2.0 word processors do more than save time - they offer a convenient productivity.
The drawback to these applications are the drawbacks of being online; you do need a connection to edit documents, but as we’ve seen with the new generation of office suites, even desktop platforms are increasingly relying on the web to add functionality. The benefit is that collaboration and sharing documents is easier than it is with desktop applications. With that in mind these online word processing applications add stability for your word processing - not only are they based online (reducing the need for storage and ram), but they are available anywhere there is a connection.
